About

A Candid Note About My Journey

I am a seasoned CPA and MBA who loves to help people with their financial needs.

I began my career in public accounting, working in both audits and tax. While I appreciated the technical challenges, the demanding hours led me to explore opportunities in corporate finance, hoping for a better work-life balance. Although the balance did improve, I found myself feeling unfulfilled—I struggled with the sense that my work lacked real impact. Losing my job during the COVID pandemic became a turning point. It gave me the chance to reassess my path, and I was fortunate to have the opportunity to return to public accounting. Now, I find deep purpose in helping clients navigate their financial lives—work that truly energizes and motivates me.

Unlike many CPAs, I didn’t grow up dreaming of a career in accounting—truthfully, it found me more than I found it.

From a young age, I aspired to become a computer engineer. When I was 12, my dad gifted me an 8088 computer with a 4MB hard drive and 512KB of RAM. At the time, it was state-of-the-art—even though today, a single photo on your phone would exceed its storage capacity. Growing up in Hong Kong, however, meant navigating a rigid education system. By Form 4 (the equivalent of 10th grade in the U.S.), students had to earn top grades to pursue science-related studies. Unfortunately, my grades were not strong enough, and I was instead relegated to Arts, focusing on literature, history, languages, and the fine arts. I was disheartened and uncertain about my future.

Then, a twist of fate. That same year, my high school introduced economics and accounting as part of the Arts curriculum. To my surprise, I excelled in both—along with math, they became the only subjects where I consistently earned As. Everything else? Nearly failing. Naturally, I leaned into where I found success, and that path led me to become a CPA.

Though my original dream of becoming a computer engineer didn’t materialize, my passion for computers and software never faded. I kept tinkering, learning, and exploring technology on my own. That continued curiosity turned out to be an incredible asset in my accounting career, allowing me to integrate tech and tools seamlessly into financial workflows. Today, I’m proud to be a CPA who not only understands the numbers—but also how to leverage technology to make sense of them in faster and more efficient ways.
